A friend of ours climbed Kilimanjaro in 2004, and absolutely loved it. Her experience was so inspiring that she decided to return to Kilimanjaro in 2006, this time as a trip organizer. She asked us if we wanted to join her on her 2006 Kilimanjaro expedition. Now let's be clear. Few mountains in the world offer such a dramatic and diverse environment as Mount Kilimanjaro. In just one week, climbers can reach extreme altitudes and stand on the top of a continent. They can also experience extreme altitude sickness! The costs for two people to go can also climb over $10,000.00 pretty easily. So, we thought, "What the heck! Let's do it!" And so it began. This web site is devoted to our Kilimanjaro experience. This includes our training and funding prior to leaving, our travel there, the actual climb, our African safari, the return trip home, and our thoughts on the entire experience. We hope this helps you in your decision whether or not to climb Kili, and also, we hope to convince you, by the time you have read through this site, that travel is a must! Both of us have been fortunate enough to travel to a variety of places, but Africa will be the most exotic, for both of us, to date. It's a bit scary, but mostly, the thrill of knowing we will be climbing to the roof of Africa, and meeting so many incredible people along the way, makes this trip one that we are ecstatic about!
